World Polio Day - October 24
Clubs are asked to host and register their Polio events on the Rotary website.  Perhaps a special viewing at your club meeting, restaurant, theater, or home.

Great Club Project... Net proceeds from ticket sales go back to selling club!
Planning your trip to Hamburg?

The HOC is also planning several free public events, including a 14-day bicycle tour that will take some 200 riders from Austria through Germany to Hamburg. Each day, the group will stop for an event to raise awareness of polio. Rotarians from around Hamburg can join the ride for the final 20 kilometers, arriving at the Rathaus (city hall) on the morning of Saturday, 1 June. Riders need to register in advance, but everyone is welcome to come to the Rathaus square to celebrate the end of the ride. One of the city’s major thoroughfares, meanwhile, will feature booths presenting Rotary’s six areas of focus to the public.

Amazon is offering up to 5% of the purchase value back to Rotary
Global Rewards Chair Paul Walman thinks "there must be a ton of our district Rotarians already using Amazon and thru the program, Amazon is offering up to 5% of the purchase value back to Rotary.  Then there are a number of car rental companies, hotels and other travel saving companies."  For more information, contact Paul at info@kwsherwoodcopy.com
ROTARY DAY IDEA !?&?! ... "My Big Fat Rotarian Dinner"
While at Zone in Montreal, a neat idea came from discussions with D5060 DG Sherry Chamberlain and twist on Susanne Rea's "The World's Greatest Meal to Help End Polio".  What if every Rotarian invited 6 non Rotarians over for dinner (on the same day in Spring 2019).  Each non Rotarian guest would be asked to pay $30 (as donation to the Polio Plus Campaign) for this fantastic candlelight wine and dine event hosted by the Rotarian and Partner.  Opportunity to introduce Rotary, Foundation, Polio, and have some fun.  With 1,600 members x 6 guests each paying $30, potential for $288,000 to End Polio.  Matched by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation at 2-1, total for night would be $864,000 ... a great dinner event for a fantastic "Rotary Day" ... Thoughts?  Will discuss at next Presidents' meeting.

Off the beaten path ... did you know,
The 2019 Rotary Rose Parade Float design and theme is determined by the Theme of the Parade “The Melody of Life” and Rotary President Barry’s theme “Be The Inspiration”.  The Rotary float design is a "Rockin Caribbean Crocodile" playing ‘Crocodile Rock', with theme “Service Rocks”.  The float walkers and riders are all donors to the float ... either through their being a member of a sustaining district (giving $6,500+) or have individually donated/raised $6,500 to walk and $10,000 to ride.
