“The Mississauga Lakeshore Rotary Club regrets and is disappointed to announce that the LCBO will not be listing our 1951 Rotary Wine at LCBO stores in Ontario. The two wines under the brand 1951, a 2012 Cabernet Merlot and a 2013 Unoaked Chardonnay produced by Chateau des Charmes in Niagara on the Lake recently participated in the LCBO’s Wine to Watch program in about 65 LCBO stores across Ontario, ending January 31, 2015.

We are proud that our wines were the top sellers in the Wines to Watch program thanks to the support of Rotarians and their friends across Ontario.$1 from the sale of each bottle has gone into the club’s charitable foundation and will benefit a variety of charities including a women's shelter and a food bank.We thought that the success of 1951, together with the extensive rotary network across Ontario and our charitable objectives, would be persuasive arguments for
the LCBO to include 1951 in its general listing.  We have learned, however, that a significant financial commitment is required by the LCBO to support marketing programs.  Such a commitment is impractical in our situation and represents an insurmountable barrier to us proceeding further.

We are pleased, however, that 1951 will continue to be available by direct purchase from the winery, Chateau des Charmes – see also www.1951rotarywine.com

A special thank you to Dick Chataway from Rotary Mississauga Lakeshore for organizing this fundraiser.
