News from the Rotary Club of Fergus Elora
The Club Change Over celebration is a great time to celebrate the club’s achievements over the past year. Our Club raises funds through either government regulated activities (Catch the Ace, Monthly Rotary Bingo) and non-regulated fund raising including Christmas Cheese bag sales, Wightman Bingo and most recently Hostas for Hospice.
Twice yearly, the Club holds a Call for Proposals process to distribute funds to worthy projects within the community. Charities and nonprofit organizations can submit proposals to the Club at these times. In total $45,200 was distributed to 14 smaller nonprofits and registered charities. In addition, a further $101,000 was paid to Aboyne Rural Hospice to go towards our Club’s 10 year commitment of $500,000 to help build the hospice facility in our community. This translates to an average of $4,568 per member that was distributed back into the Townships of Centre and North Wellington in the Rotary year 2024-25.
