Bolton Rotary Helps Most Vulnerable at Home and Abroad

At Home...

KIVA is an international non profit created in March of 2004 It connects people through crowdfunded loans. There are one billion people who have no credit card for emergencies, no debit card to access their money, or a credit history to help get a loan. To date, five million people have used Kiva to change their lives. Kiva works with local partners in seventy countries who process applications and collect repayments.

The Rotary Club of Bolton has invested thirteen thousand dollars US to reach 595 borrowers in thirty-seven different countries. As the loans are repaid, we relend the money to a waiting list of borrowers. Our original investment has generated over fifty thousand dollars US in loans as our money gets used over and over.

A full 95% of our loans have gone to single parent mothers who make a living for themselves and their children in the agricultural field. Our default rate sits at a low .71% which speaks to the integrity of our borrowers.

As an individual or a group, you can become a part of the Kiva family for a little as $25.00  US. You get to choose the person you will lend to and as the loan is repaid you have the option to either lend to another person or withdraw your money from the program.
You can research this worthwhile program at kiva.org

And Abroad...

The Grand Parade 2025

An enthusiastic team from our club joined in the Grand Parade walk on Saturday September 20, 2025 hosted by Caledon Seniors Centre. This event is meant to celebrate exceptional people: our parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, and neighbours, to raise awareness for seniors and the incredible organizations that support them and to raise money for “better than basic” care for the people we love, through dedicated organizations committed to this important cause.
