$30,000 Donated to Local Organizations
The Rotary Club of Cambridge hosted its Community Services Day and donated $30,000 to six local organizations including the Cambridge Humane Society, Cambridge Food Bank, Cambridge Canada Day, Food4Kids, Porchlight Counselling and Addiction Services, and Women's Crisis Services of Waterloo Region .They received varying amounts between $2000 to $8000 each , all raised through their fundraiser gala and charity bingo.
President Rena Hawkins explained that they chose each organization based on their community impact and their immediate needs. She acknowledged the significance of these organizations while recounting her own personal experiences. These community services had been a resource for her as a young single mom .As such being able to give back is a great sense of accomplishment.
It was also beneficial for members of the club see the impact their contributions make .
