Festivities at Palgrave's Annual Holiday Tree Lighting
The Rotary Club of Palgrave welcomed the community to its Annual Holiday Tree Lighting event on Saturday December 9th at Palgrave’s Stationlands Park. The rain held off and we had a fabulous evening. There was a real sense of excitement and fun in the air. Children from Palgrave Public School started the evening by beautifully singing an assortment of Christmas songs. This performance was followed by the countdown to the Tree lighting and then the arrival of Santa. Santa along with a couple of his elves arrived in the Rudolph the Red Nose Tractor & Sleigh, supplied by local Rusty Jade Ranch.
Performers from Hit that Note Studio in Bolton entertained us as Santa visited with the children. The attendees had their choice of complimentary hot dogs, peameal on a bun, hot chocolate and apple cider served from our Club’s famous Chuckwagon. There was also a bouncy castle and a Caledon Firetruck which handed out fire prevention material. Nonperishable food was collected for the Peel School Board to be distributed to Caledon families in need. Prizes were awarded for the best holiday light display in the area.
First place received a dinner at A Taste of Freedom restaurant located in Tottenham, second prize received a gift certificate from Caledon Hills Brewing located in Palgrave and a 3rd Rotary special acknowledgement prize of a $50 Tim Hortons card. The evening was a huge success bringing neighbours, family and friends together at this festive time of year. We would like to acknowledge and thank our sponsors, Cairns Roofing, Dr. Richard Ehrlich, Migrations Travel, Glen the Plumber, A Taste of Freedom, Caledon Hills Brewing, Legacy Pines Golf Club, Silcotech North America Inc. and Robert Ogilvie.
