9th Annual Spring Cleanup of The Dom Cardillo Trail

Despite starting the day with rain and cooler temperatures, there were some blue skies and nice weather for the 9th annual Dom Cardillo Trail spring cleanup by members of Kitchener Rotary on Thursday, April 21st.

The Dom Cardillo Trail was named after the former Mayor of Kitchener, Dom Cardillo who was the second longest serving Mayor of Kitchener, filling the roll from 1982 and 1994.   Cardillo was also honoured with a Rotary Paul Harris Fellowship by the club.  Members of Kitchener Rotary have been cleaning the trail in the spring and fall for almost 9 years now.

Supporting the environment is one Rotary International’s 8 areas of focus. Chair Peter Gray and members would like to thank the City of Kitchener for, once again, providing garbage bags and gloves and they picked up the garbage bags used on the trail by some 15 members of Kitchener Rotary.

The busy Dom Cardillo Trail links the Chicopee Ski Hill and the Stanley Park Conservation Area and users pass by the Centreville Chicopee Community Centre, Idlewood Park and Pool and the Stanley Park Community Centre.
Kitchener Rotary is also celebrating their 100th anniversary this year with a number of special events planned, including the Official 100th Anniversary Luncheon on June 27th at Golf’s Steak House and Seafood, Kitchener.
