How Can You Support?
Rotary Youth Exchange
District Chair: Sheila Welham
Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) gives youth in high school the opportunity to live in another country for almost a year. For each ‘outbound’ student, Rotary receives an ‘inbound’ person who will live in several local homes, attend school, and participate in a multitude of Rotary activities. Students who have returned from their year abroad are referred to as ‘rebounds’.
Details of how your club can sponsor an outbound student and welcome an inbound youth are currently being sent to Rotary Presidents and Youth Service chairs. We will be holding a host family training session on zoom on October 17th and 19th, details to follow. For immediate information, please contact Sheila Welham, swelham25@gmail.com .
Interact Clubs
District Chair: Liliana Chocarro
Interact is for youth aged 12 to 18 years of age. Clubs may be community-based or in a high school. Currently, our list of active Interact
Clubs in the District is being updated. A few Rotary Clubs have recently received requests from students to start an Interact Club! Our Rotary family is rapidly growing!
Soon, an invitation will be sent to all club Presidents and Youth Service Committee chairs for an ‘Interact Information’ session. This session will: 1) share information on how to establish and support Interact clubs, 2) establish a network of Interact sponsor clubs to optimize the use of resources and knowledge base, and 3) share the plan for District activities in 2024/2025, and set up organizing committees. Stay tuned! For further information, contact Liliana Chocarro, chocarrol@gmail.com .
Rotary Youth Leadership Academy
District Chair: Betty Jo Parent
Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA) gives young professionals aged 18-29, the opportunity to explore the many facets of leadership May 1-4, 2025. This 4-day camp at the Ecology Retreat Centre in Orangeville allows participants to explore their own values, strengths and goals, and develop a deeper understanding of what they need to practice, reframe and learn in order to become a more vibrant leader. Team building, guest speakers, workshops and lectures are all presented in an environment that is fun! RYLA also gives a great opportunity to Rotarians to participate at a networking session and dinner on Saturday, May 3rd.
Details on how your club can sponsor student(s) will be sent to your President or Youth Services Director in early October. For immediate information, contact ryla7080@gmail.com .
