A Message from the District Governor

Dear Fellow Rotarians, Rotaractors, and Friends of Rotary in District 7080,

As this incredible year 2025 is soon coming to an end, I would like to extend my most sincere wishes for a peaceful, restful, and truly joyful holiday season. Whatever your faith or tradition - or simply your celebration of the holidays - I hope this time brings warmth and serenity to you and your loved ones. This season is a perfect moment to reflect on the immense impact you and all clubs have created together. Thanks to your continued dedication to Service Above Self, the engine that drives meaningful change does not stand still, and I am incredibly grateful for every moment of service you have given to your communities and the world.

I also want to take this opportunity to share a sincere and personal thank you. The many opportunities and the few challenges of leading our wonderful District 7080 are only possible because of the extraordinary support, encouragement, and commitment I have received from so many of you. Your willingness to work with me, to step up whenever needed, and to offer your wisdom and inspiration has made this journey truly rewarding. Thank you for the trust and partnership you have shown me.

Looking ahead to 2026, let us continue with this spirit of teamwork yet always remembering our theme: Unite for Good. The world’s greatest challenges require us to pool our resources, our ideas, and our passion. By strengthening the bonds between our clubs and working side-by-side with other organizations, we amplify our efforts and make our impact undeniable. May the New Year bring you and your families excellent health, boundless happiness, and every success that you are wishing for. Let us continue to Imagine and live the Magic of Rotary and stand ready to Unite for Good in the months ahead, creating an even more positive and above all everlasting legacy.

Wishing you and your families a Happy and Healthy New Year!

Yours in Rotary,
Susanne Zbinden

Disease Prevention and Treatment Month

December is Rotary's Disease Prevention and Treatment Month, a time when we focus on one of Rotary's seven areas of focus. This is a critical area, as preventing disease and promoting health saves millions of lives every year.

Preventing disease often starts with simple, actionable steps within our communities:

  • Promote Education: Educate communities on hygiene, sanitation, and the importance of vaccinations (like polio, which Rotary is dedicated to eradicating).

  • Improve Water & Sanitation: Focus on ensuring access to clean water and sanitation facilities, which are fundamental in preventing waterborne illnesses.

  • Support Mental Health: Address the growing global need for mental health awareness and accessible treatment services.

Possible Rotary Projects and Events

Here are a few project and event ideas our clubs could explore to make an impact:

  • Local Health Fairs: Organize a community health day offering free screenings for blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol, as well as educational resources.

  • Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Initiatives: Implement a project to install handwashing stations or improve latrines in local schools.

  • "ShelterBox for Health": Provide basic health kits and education to underserved families or those displaced by conflict or disaster.

  • Immunization Awareness Campaign: Partner with local health authorities to host a public information session about the benefits of routine immunizations.

Let us use this month to strengthen our commitment to building healthier communities and fulfilling Rotary’s vision of health and well-being for all!
