Combatting Food Scarcity in Shelburne
The Rotary Club of Shelburne supports a number of projects to combat food scarcity in our community. These have included a senior’s market (providing access to fresh produce for house-bound seniors), Christmas Hamper Program, Thanksgiving Food Drive, FIFE (Feed It Forward Everyone) at local restaurants, Breakfast Programs at local schools, and regular support of the Shelburne Food Bank (which is also a partner in many of the previously noted programs).
This summer the Shelburne Food Bank launched a fundraising campaign to acquire a cargo van to improve the efficiency of their food rescue efforts. Shelburne Rotary is proud to support this fundraising campaign as one of two Community Partners providing a $20,000 donation. With support from the entire community, the food rescue van will become a reality!
