On a bright Monday morning, July 21, 2025, the Rotary Club of Ingersoll celebrated the grand opening of the Ingersoll Rotary Charitable Warehouse, complete with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony. This event marked a significant milestone in the club’s efforts to combat food insecurity across the region. The new facility promises to become a collaborative nexus for community support and action. The journey toward this moment began in March 2025, when the Rotary Club launched the ambitious project. In just a few short months, extensive renovations transformed the building, formerly an old gym, into a functional and welcoming space. Volunteers and contractors worked tirelessly to overhaul the furnace, plumbing, roofing, and other essential infrastructure. The swift progress was a testament to the strong partnerships between the Rotary Club, local businesses, and residents.
What truly brought the vision to life was the remarkable outpouring of community support. Ingersoll residents and business owners rallied to donate funds, raising approximately $120,000 in record time.
“Ingersoll stepped up to the plate,” reflected Rotary board member Ted Comiskey, acknowledging the community’s generosity and shared belief in the project’s value. Now, the warehouse stands ready to serve as a central hub for compassion. Under the leadership of STICH (Stronger Together Ingersoll Community Harvest) a coalition known as The Food Project will bring together 9 to 10 charitable organizations under one roof, reducing service overlap and improving efficiency across Oxford County. The shared vision is clear: together, these groups will feed neighbors in need and strengthen the community's resilience.
District Governor Susanne Zbinden, who was in attendance for the grand opening, commented: “By looking at the plaque with all the names of sponsors, contributors, and other organizations I can definitely say that this project is the epitome of “Unite for Good”!
