A Message from the District Governor

Dear Rotarians, Rotaractors and all Friends of Rotary,

Welcome to the first edition of the District 7080 Newsletter in this Rotary 2025-26! As we embark on a new Rotary year, I'm excited to highlight July as Maternal and Child Health Month. This vital area of focus embodies Rotary's commitment to building healthier communities worldwide.

Every day, mothers and children face significant health challenges. Rotary clubs around the globe are working tirelessly to provide access to quality healthcare, immunizations, clean birth kits, and essential education. Through our collective efforts, we empower mothers, reduce infant mortality, and ensure brighter futures for the next generation. Let's continue to support and amplify these impactful initiatives within our district and beyond.

Spotlight on Maternal and Child Health: Making a Difference in District 7080

Maternal and Child Health is one of Rotary's seven areas of focus, and it's a cause where our clubs can make a profound impact. Here are some ideas and initiatives to inspire your club's efforts this month:
  • Promote Immunization Campaigns: Support local health clinics in organizing immunization drives for children, ensuring they receive life-saving vaccines.
  • Raise Awareness for Preventable Diseases: Share information about common preventable diseases affecting mothers and children, emphasizing the importance of sanitation, nutrition, and early intervention.
  • Consider a Global Grant Project: If your club is looking for a larger impact, research opportunities for Global Grants through The Rotary Foundation that focus on maternal and child health initiatives in communities worldwide.
  • Share Your Club's Stories: If your club is already involved in a maternal and child health project, we want to hear about it! Please send us your stories and photos for future newsletters. We would love to highlight any global or local projects focusing on Maternal and Child Health.

Phishing Emails from the “District Governor”!

As I begin this new role as the District Governor for our District, I would like to alert you to some potential phishing scams in the future. This has happened to past District Governors and I am certain that someone will try it during this year.
Please be advised that I only use the following email addresses for correspondence:
susannezbinden@me.com or @icloud.com or @mac.com
I do not use any other email accounts and therefore if there is a suspicious email from the District Governor, please check the sender’s address and alert someone at the District.
