Fellow Rotarians, Our new Rotary year has commenced and I started my visits to the Rotary clubs within our district. It is summer time and several of our clubs have BBQs as part of their club meetings. I enjoy the concert of singing birds during my talks. A big thank you to the Rotary clubs of Tavistock, Guelph-Trillium, Kitchener- Westmount and Mississauga-Meadowvale for their warm welcome...
... Recently the Tavistock club created a new and very unique event within their community. The Heritage Dog walk is an event, where dog owners take their dogs on a walking route through Tavistock stopping at historical local landmarks. Each dog was wearing proudly a yellow Rotary scarf. Drink stations (for the dogs) and fire hydrants were also popular stops. Check it out at the new website of the Rotary Club of Tavistock. Our Assistant Governors have most likely delivered the new theme banners to your clubs. Please, display them prominently at your club meetings. Rotary International President Ray Klinginsmith developed the theme and I think it describes well what we do around the world: Building Communities Bridging Continents. President Ray had a little surprise in store for our district in his July newsletter to all the District Governors. He used our little Promo video for this year's district conference as an interesting example for promoting District conferences. He wrote to the Governors: " I am confident your district conferences are one of your major concerns for the year, and I want to be as helpful as possible. For that purpose, here is a website that has a very interesting advertisement for the District 7080 Conference in Canada: Kudos to DG Bernd!" Well the real Kudos go to the Conference planning committee and especially Rotaractor Paul Farrugia and Conrad Tang. Conrad put the entire video together. Please, make sure to visit some of the exiting events our Rotary clubs put on during the summer months. Have you ever visited the Shelburne Canadian Fiddle Championship? Why don't you check it out on August 5-9? Have a great summer! Bernd
