November 2016 – March 2018

A Work Week at Project Amigo is a Mexican experience like no other. Each Work Week is carefully designed to give you a balanced perspective – certainly our kids and their families have great need (the “Project” half) but they also have a rich and ancient culture into which they are keen to welcome you (the “Amigo” half.) You will spend your week working and playing in the tiny rural villages, in the beach side towns, in the migrant work camps and in the schools and the communities in which reside the heart and soul of Project Amigo- our kids! When you volunteer for a Work Week at Project Amigo, you will make a difference while building friendships to last a lifetime.

Your program fee of $1200 (includes accommodations, all meals, the full time support of the volunteer coordinator, airport pickup and drop off, transportation, special events, field trips and materials. Airfare not included.

Give the gift of literacy! While it’s well known that Project Amigo provides scholarships to individual children, did you know we also work with whole schools in fostering a love of learning and promoting strong literacy skills? You will help to organize, deliver and install mini-libraries in small, under-serviced, rural schools, work alongside kids as they read, engage one-on-one in literacy and art activities and create memories with them that can last a lifetime. Afternoons are spent immersing ourselves in the local culture and communities as we explore this hidden corner of Mexico.
