Remembering Ralph Sprague - Rotarian, Assistant Governor, Mentor, and Friend.
Ralph Sprague was a dedicated Rotarian whose commitment to service, leadership and community building spanned nearly three decades. He began his Rotary journey in 1997 with the Rotary Club of Toronto Sunrise and later joined the Rotary Club of Wiarton in 2007, where he served in several leadership capacities, including Club President (2009–2010), Club Secretary and Club Administration Chair. He also served District 6330 as District Club Administration Chair for three years.
Following his relocation to Burlington, Ralph became an active member of the Rotary Club of Burlington North, continuing his passion for Rotary and community service. His leadership extended beyond the club level, serving Rotary District 7080 as Assistant Governor for the Burlington area, supporting and strengthening clubs through fellowship, guidance and dedicated service.
Beyond Rotary, Ralph demonstrated a deep commitment to community development, including his involvement with local hospital initiatives and the Bruce Peninsula Health Services Foundation, where he served on the Board of Directors and as Chair.
A Paul Harris Fellow and Paul Harris Society member, Ralph exemplified Rotary's spirit of Service Above Self. His warmth, commitment, humility and willingness to give of himself made him a valued colleague, mentor and friend. He was profoundly celebrated by his club on October 23, 2026, in a special fellowship meeting at the Carpenter Hospice, Burlington.
His passing on October 28, 2026 is a profound loss to District 7080 and the wider Rotary family. While we mourn his departure, we celebrate a life that made a difference and a legacy of service that will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside him.
Our prayers continue to be with his family - his wife Gail, and children.
Ralph will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
