A Successful Fundraiser by Shelburne Rotary

On August 12-13, the Rotary Club of Shelburne hosted its first-ever Rhythms & Reels fundraising event. Held at Fiddle Park in Shelburne, the event had two parts – a drive-in movie night on Saturday and a late afternoon concert on Sunday. The movies were Secret Life of Pets 2 and Spiderman: No Way Home. Local artist Leisa Way and her band presented the Sunday concert, A Tribute to Canadian Legend Gordon Lightfoot.

Despite the threat of rain, and the threat briefly coming true, the weekend was a success in bringing the community together and generating support for the Club’s battle against food insecurity, through the Shepherd’s Cupboard Food Bank, Christmas hampers, Breakfast Club at local schools, and Mobile Seniors’ Market.

Shelburne Rotary has proudly hosted the Heritage Music Festival and Fiddle Contest for 70 years but with the uncertainty of what the post-pandemic time might have in store for us, the Club made the decision to shift away from the traditional Heritage Music Festival and instead introduce several smaller event fundraisers throughout the year – the two remaining are a Pumpkinfest on October 7 (another new venture for our Club) and a Scott Woods Old Time Country Christmas concert on December 11.

Thank you to our sponsors, volunteers and audience members, for helping make this event a success.
