In Support of Community Grants Program
In September, Rotary Waterloo hosted the Northern Heat Ribfest in support of our Community Grants Program.
Rotary Waterloo is very proud of our grants program. We have supported so many worthwhile organizations in the Waterloo Region. Some of these organizations include Toasty Toes, who procure socks for the unhoused and The Children’s Need Distribution Center who used the funds to purchase car seats. Spectrum used their grant to purchase office equipment, Keep Your Head Up’s granting dollars went to support the development of new programs and many more.
The weekend was perfect. Beautiful weather brought out the crowds, who tried out the Ribs and Beverages, listened to some fantastic bands, and enjoyed the midway games while supporting our endeavor at the same time.
With over 5,500 people of all ages through the door, our volunteers were busy collecting admissions and selling 50/50 tickets, letting everyone know what the funds were supporting. Our club saw volunteer after volunteer come out over the weekend to show our love of service. We can thank our members in their bright yellow shirts enough for their incredible effort over the weekend. As well as our volunteers, we would like to thank our member, Ron Levene – ODC Tooling & Molds, whose sponsorship was instrumental in acquiring our excellent T-shirts. We sure stood out and above the crowd!
Of course, the weekend would not have been complete without a taste test to see which were the best Ribs. With help from our community leaders and elected officials, the winner was declared-
Best Sauce - Louisiana Bar-B-Que
Best Ribs - Oak & Barrel
We are so excited by this new fundraising event and can hardly wait for next year!
