Supporting Education and Literacy

The Rotary Club of Brampton Flower City Centennial is committed to supporting  basic education and literacy through practical initiatives. Club members recently answered a call  for support and donated 200 soft-cover Canadian edition Webster's dictionaries with a Rotary logo  on the front cover to Carberry Public School in Brampton, Ontario. These dictionaries not only  teach correct spelling and spelling patterns, but also foster reading comprehension and enable  young students to acquire a broader vocabulary. By looking up just one word, students  inadvertently expose themselves to many other words, their meanings, uses, and other valuable  information. Through this act of generosity, the Rotary Club of Brampton Flower City Centennial  has made a meaningful contribution to the education and lifelong learning of these students,  inspiring them to reach for their full potential.

Our club’s efforts were recently recognized in the November 2023, school newsletter, the Carberry  Chronicles – “Rotary Club donates FREE dictionaries! All grade 3 students will be receiving a  free dictionary as part of the Dictionary Program sponsored by the Rotary Club of Brampton  Flower City Centennial. We thank Mr. Dhaman Kissoon (President), and Mr. Peter Scaramuzzo  (Past-president) for contributing to the learning of Carberry’s students.”
