The Right Hon. Paul Martin and RI President 2022-23 Jennifer Jones speak at Kitchener Rotary

Kitchener Rotary, Kitchener Grand River Rotary and Kitchener Westmount Rotary joined together on Monday March 7th to hear the Right Honourable Paul Martin present his Martin Family Initiative which is a charitable organization focused on bridging gaps by weaving Indigenous knowledge together with the most current research and evidence-informed methods. MFI is committed to improving education, health and the overall well-being of Indigenous children and youth in Canada. More information can be found at https://themfi.ca/ .

The Right Hon. Paul Martin served as Canada’s Prime Minister from 2003 to 2006. As Prime Minister, Mr. Martin succeeded in establishing plans to improve health care, reduce wait times, and nationalize early learning and childcare programs. He also reached a historic consensus with the 2005 Kelowna Accord to eliminate funding gaps in health, education, housing, and clean water for Indigenous people.

Jennifer Jones is the first woman in Rotary International’s 115 year history to be nominated for president.  She is Canadian and her home club is Windsor-Roseland of Windsor Ontario, which is Mr. Martin’s home town.

Mr. Martin’s presentation was well received and it was a pleasure to also host our Rotary Incoming President Jennifer Jones who brought congratulations to President Adrian DeCoo and the members on Kitchener Rotary's 100th Anniversary.
