CAMBRIDGE NORTH ROTARY CONTRIBUTES TOMATOS TO MEALS ON WHEELS GARDEN
AND CAMBRIDGE FOOD BANK
During June 2023, the Rotary Club of Cambridge North member Dean Fitzgerald delivered more than 50 organic tomato plants to Kitchener’s Meals On Wheels (MOW) garden. This is the fourth year for tomato donations to the MOW garden with the future produce used by Community Support Connections (CSC; communitysupportconnections.org) for meal delivery to residents in need across Waterloo Region. Dean delivered tomato plants to Dorothy Pearce, Garden Leader, CSC, and Ashlynne Boven, Manager Volunteer Engagement, CSC, and Anne Rothwell, Volunteer Engagement, CSC.
During winter 2023, CNR also sponsored the purchase of a shed at CSC, to house the extensive collection of tools used in the garden.
Other tomato plants were also delivered to the Cambridge Food Bank (CFB; cambridgefoodbank.org) for their community garden. Other tomato plants were shared directly with clients at CFB, to enhance personal gardens directly.
And RC Cambridge North has committed to deliver tomato plants during 2024 to MOW-CSC and CFB.
