Rotary Youth Exchange builds peace one young person at a time.


What are the benefits?
Exchange students unlock their true potential to:
- Develop lifelong leadership skills
- Learn a new language and culture
- Build lasting friendships with young people from around the world
- Become a global citizen

Who can apply?
Exchange students:
- Must be older than 15 1/2 years, and younger than 18 years on September 1st of the year they depart
- Canadian citizen with passport
- Strong academic standing
- Must participate in all training
- Must be willing to immerse in a new culture
- Must be open to country selection
- Respect rules & expectations

How long do exchanges last?
Rotary Youth Exchanges last one full academic year, and students attend local schools and live with multiple host families over a period of 11 to 12 months.
What are the costs?
Room and board are provided, as well as any school fees. Students are usually responsible for the following expenses :
- Round-trip airfare
- Travel insurance
- Travel documents (such as passports and visas)
- Spending money and any additional travel or tours

Timeline (Approximate):
- Nov 1: Short form applications are due
- Nov 15: Applicant Interviews
- Dec 1: Long form applications are due
- Feb 1: Student interviews
- March: Student training & country selection
- August: Depart for exchange!
