Mock COL Session for D7080 Presidents

The following script was developed by PDG Doug Vincent to create an interesting and engaging presentation on the COL for a District 7080 President's meeting. It is designed to entertain and show how the COL process works. Please feel free to use any of this if it might help you in your COL education or responsibilities.
Chair - Our next proposed enactment is 13-123. We recognize the speaker at the podium.
John at podium - I am John Black, representative of D7080 Ontario Canada.
I will speak in English.
I propose that the RI BOD makes milk the official drink at all Rotary Club meetings.
Seconder - I am [name, district] and I second this motion
1st speaker - I am [name, district] and I speak in favour of the motion.
I come from the Dairy Capital of Canada and it would really enhance our dairy industry if we did this.
2nd speaker - I am [name, district] and I oppose this motion because milk is very expensive in our country. And the cost of Rotary membership is already a concern of our members.
Furthermore, we sometimes have picnic meetings and the milk will go sour without proper refrigeration.
3rd speaker - I am [name, district]
Mr Chairman, I suggest an amendment by inserting the word "chocolate" just before the word milk.
Chocolate milk would have a greater acceptance in our part of the world.
Chair - Do we have a seconder for the amendment?
Seeing non, the amendment fails.
4th speaker - I am [name, district]
I strongly oppose this resolution because in my country, cows are sacred beings. And in Rotary we should not be involved in religion, politics or similar issues like this.
Furthermore, if we enforce this mandatory drink many of our vegetarian members will resign.
5th speaker - I am [name, district] and I rise on a point of order.
Since all our Clubs are supposed to be autonomous, I question if it is within our mandate to tell clubs what drink they must have. And we have no "Rotary police" to enforce this anyway.
Chair - Yes you make a good point and I see our legislative council advisors are nodding in agreement.
Therefore, I will withdraw the motion from the floor.
Chair - Next ridiculous proposal . . . .
