“Service Above Self” is Rotary’s principal motto, which means that every Rotarian is responsible for finding ways to improve the quality of life in his or her community, and in those around the world, through service. Ask any Rotarian why they joined Rotary and they’ll include Service, or ‘I want to be of service’ in their answers.

"I want to be of service" is their WHY.
See Simon Sinek's TED talk on finding your WHY in the RESOURCES section.

More and more we hear Rotarians say: “I want to make a difference in my own backyard”.

Community Service is your own backyard!

When Rotary is viewed as a positive force in the community, its membership strengthens and grows, adding to the organization's ability to serve worldwide. Community Service is the opportunity Rotary clubs have to implement club projects and activities that improve life in the local community.
