From FIRE to FLOOD – Districts 5040, 5050, 5060
We are so appreciative of the funds donated thus far for the Wildfire victims in British Columbia. Your donations enabled the joint tri-district committee via the Rotary Club of Steveston Charitable Society to address the gaps in immediate emergency services and in the interim services for those who lost their homes.  We thank all our Rotary family for their amazing support through gift card donations, supporting local food banks, replacing computers, and providing PPC equipment.  We have raised over $68,000 to date to help those impacted by wildfires in 2021 and are now developing plans to help with temporary structures as winter closes in.

However, many of our communities and fellow Rotarians in British Columbia and Washington state have also been severely impacted by the recent flooding. A state of emergency has been declared again in British Columbia as numerous communities and highways have been severely impacted. Offers of help are being received from Rotary Clubs and other Districts and we at D5040, D5050, and D5060 are so grateful for our Rotary family’s ongoing support!

Disaster Aid Canada – Rotary Club of Ladysmith
Help Support BC residents affected by the devastating storm and floods that hit the province on November 14-15th, 2021.
Historic rain levels hit the Southwest corner of BC causing floods and landslides. Abbotsford, Princeton, Merritt, and areas on Vancouver Island were evacuated and are still displaced from their homes. Hundreds of motorists were stranded and helicoptered out by the Department of National Defense near Hope as mudslides on the highway left them without exit options. Major highways were shut down, washed away in sections from rising river levels, and are still under the observation of civil engineers to determine the toll of damage and expected re-opening timeline.
Disaster Aid Canada is in communication with our Rotary and support contacts in the affected areas. Through their first-hand knowledge, we are able to gather funds to provide direct aid to meet the needs of the region.
We will be collaborating with Rotary groups and other organizations to bring support to the people affected. We will update as the details of the programs come our way.
Please donate what you can to help BC Residents.
