April 1925, the Rotary Club of Oakville received its Charter from Rotary International and so began the journey of 100 years of service to a community that has grown from less then 4,000 to a population of over 233,700 residents.
Currently there are five active Rotary Clubs in Oakville all of which started from the Rotary Club of Oakville. Expanding to more clubs as the population grew started in 1978 with the Rotary Club of Oakville Trafalgar, then in 1984 with the Rotary Club of Oakville West, in 1986 by Oakville North (now disbanded) followed by Oakville Rotaract in 2012 (now Halton Rotaract) and most recently by the Passport South Rotary Club. Please check out the cluster webpage at https://rotaryoakville.ca for more information about each of the clubs.
To help Rotarians honour its history of “Service Above Self” Pilon School of Business -Sheridan students led by their co-op program professor are digitizing this multi-faceted Oakville story and will help Rotary share the news this year.
A story which includes building and managing affordable housing, helping to expand and equip the hospital, student bursaries for post secondary education, and working to eradicate polio globally and so much more. The 100-year story will be shared April 30th at the Gala event along with major celebratory announcements affecting the Oakville community in 2025 and going forward.
