Fellow Rotarians, Rotaractors, and Interactors,

As we embark on Membership and New Club Development month, Rotary’s number one priority is to Grow Rotary and increase membership. Our International President Shekhar Mehta’s goal of increasing our membership to 1.3 million by July 2022. With his call to action of “Each One, Bring One,” he is asking each Rotarian and Rotaractor to introduce a new person into their club, and to focus on Diversity and reaching out to younger people and women.

In her newsletter, Beyond Borders, Rotary International Vice President (RIVP), Valarie Wafer, talks about her visiting a few events in person and how many of us are anxious to “get back to a reasonable sense of normal.” Many Rotarians have been asking about returning to in-person meetings. Our District Membership Chair and his team, together with the G-Team, sent a flyer in this regard with considerations for individuals and clubs to take into account for their in-person gatherings including club meetings, social events, or fundraisers in order to assist with ensuring the safety of participants in Rotary events in our District. “VACCINES WORK: ENDING POLIO IS PROOF!” RIVP Valarie also stresses the importance of vaccination by stating “We must encourage those who can, to get vaccinated. In fact, we owe it to those who cannot vaccinate to do so ourselves so that others may also get back to normal life as well.”

Remember that our number #1 goal is the health and safety of Rotarians, their family members, and guests. Let’s make sure that we do our utmost to ensure a safe return to in-person meetings and gatherings.

Thank you for all you do for Rotary, your communities, and the world!

Yours in Rotary,
Rudy Habesch
