During the pandemic, Rotary District 7080 created an opportunity for Interact Clubs to raise funds to support local charities by writing grant applications. The Nelson Interact Club in Burlington has participated in each of the 3 years, with Hannah Menhel being the lead person for the last 2 years.In 2022, the Nelson Interact Club successfully earned $1000 to support Shifra Homes... when Hannah was in grade 9!
Hannah has continued to be in touch with Nancy Romic at Shifra. The Grant Writing program has had an on-going impact on the youth who have participated in this initiative. Hannah and her sister has published and article in the local digital newspaper which is the 3rd in a series that the young women have researched dealing with homelessness .
