Highlights From the Rotary Year

Rotaract Club of Guelph

Over the course of the last four months, the club held a "Blind Date With A Book Sale" for Polio Awareness Month and raised over $300 to donate to Rotary's Polio Eradication efforts. We hosted our annual "Trick-or-Eat" event where members went door-to-door at the end of October, collecting over 100 non-perishable food items for the Guelph Foodbank. We also held several successful recruitment events, and now we have over 30 members in our club. We are now working hard to plan our Gala supporting the Nightingale Centre, on March 7th, 2024.

Rotaract Halton

As fall leads into winter, the members of Halton Rotaract have been kept busy! We hosted a meet-and-greet social hike at the end of September, and had the opportunity to meet fellow Rotaractors from the Mississauga clubs. We then kicked off October with members contributing to endeavors such as the Loblaws canned food drive at Hamilton's Gore Park, sorting donations for Make a Great Pass, handing out turkeys as part of Food4Life, and supporting the Milton Rotary Club as they organize their Christmas Bowling Fundraiser to raise money for the Townsend Smith Foundation as they support the development of a new residential hospice in the North Halton area. As a club, we are very honoured to have been part and take part in so many volunteer events. All members continuously get exposure to different circumstances and we’re so honoured to keep service above self!

Rotaract Brampton

In September, the Brampton community came together for a meaningful tree-planting initiative, promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship. This was followed by the R.E.D. Talk event, where inspiring speakers shared their personal journeys, insights, and lessons learned, fostering connection and motivation. Both events highlighted the power of collective action and storytelling to create a positive impact.

Rotaract Mississauga

Rotaract Mississauga has had a productive year from July 2024 to January 2025, marked by various initiatives emphasizing community service and sustainability. The year began with a successful Thrift Market in collaboration with Sheridan College students, promoting recycling and raising funds for local charities. The club partnered with Rotaract Brampton to weave milkbag mattresses for those in need and toured Trillium Hospital to learn about healthcare advancements. They also attended a Beatles Tribute Concert to support local health services, held an annual cookie dough fundraiser, and collaborated with Interact students to create holiday cards. A vision board workshop was hosted to encourage personal development, and future plans include a professional development workshop with UTM and a symposium on sustainability practices, reflecting their commitment to community engagement and personal growth.
