We look forward to you joining us in Calgary in June to participate in the Rotary International Convention.It is not to late to register for our convention and registration discounts are still available thru March . Please visit convention.rotary.org for all your registration needs and plan your convention schedule.
Steps to follow to plan your visit once you are registered for the convention:
Once on the above site scroll down to the blue section under “Plan your visit” , click on information you need.
1-Signature events- available to you (social events at night)
2-Host Organization Committee website- (key information and host hospitality registration details for Monday June 23rd)
3-View preliminary schedule- at a glance (general schedule)
4-Convention onsite registration starts at noon on Saturday June 21st (pick up convention name tag and city bus pass)
5-House of Friendship starts Saturday June 21st in the afternoon
Some highlights of the week include:
1-District 7080 Open House with your host DG Sohail- on Monday June 23rd from 3pm to 6pm. Location is the Canadian Legion of Calgary at 116 7th Ave South ,downtown Calgary (near Hyatt Regency on the Rotary Bus Line-this is free transportation as we all get a city bus pass at registration desk on Saturday).
The event is “Open House format” so please come to see your friends from district 7080 plus bring your friends from Rotary to meet and greet .The more the merrier, plus all of your family members are included. No registration cost for this event just, plan to stay for a few minutes or stay the entire 3 hours. We will have a cash bar (cheapest drinks in Calgary) and some snacks and pizza will be available (at no cost to you). This will be a fun afternoon of fellowship.
2-All the signature events are available on the web site as per above . I encourage you to please register for your social events and please pay for your tickets now (events get filled to capacity during March and April). Special attention to Saturday night-Grandstand Spectacular at the GMC Stadium. On Sunday night -Rockin the Big Tent (Nashville North music event) at the Saddeldome. Monday night events include Home Hospitality with Calgary Rotarians and Beyond Borders at the Calgary Zoo. Each of the signature events carries a registration cost.
3- Special Rotary International lunch events on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. You may consider attending the following special lunches that require online registeration with a cost for your lunch.
Monday lunch-current Rotary International President Stephanie Urchick on the “Magic of Rotary”
Tuesday lunch-next years Rotary International President Mario Cesar Martins de Camargo on “Unite for Good”
Wednesday lunch-Rotary International Foundation Chair Mark Maloney
Please register now for these amazing events as capacity is limited. All of these events are on site at the convention centre.
3- Other events to consider include Rotary Action groups such as RAGAS and WASH plus the youth exchange committee meetings that start on Friday June 20th. Special mention to RAGAS -Rotary Action Group Against Slavery is hosting a reception on Friday at 6.30pm at Hilton Garden Inn ,Cost is $45 USD , more registration details at ragas.ca .
We will be hosting a special one hour zoom this spring for the district 7080 members to review the above convention information. Details of the zoom have been emailed . Rob Galloway will chair this informative session.
