Community Collaboration to Combat Food Insecurity

We have initiated a challenge for the community to donate soup ingredients, volunteer to cook or make a donation on-line towards this project for the month of November.  Our club will match donations up to $2500.  This was originally an initiative by a local church but they have since closed their doors.

Once a month Soul Soup is made in huge batches to freeze and donate to the Exchange food supply.  Two of our members have completed the Safe Food Handling Certification.   Already we have had tremendous enthusiasm from club members and volunteers!  The opportunity to piggy-back on the Coldest Night of the Year promotion in Caledon worked to our advantage in the same month.  This type of project gives us awareness in the community, the involvement of neighbours, positive public relations, and a way to help with food insecurity.  A win-win-win-win !
