District Grant projects are short-term local or international projects, requiring 10 months or less to complete.  The District matches 50% of eligible project expenses up to a maximum of $6,500CAD.

In 2024-25, three D7080 clubs—the Rotary clubs of Oakville Trafalgar, Streetsville and Waterloo—recorded videos about their District Grant projects. The videos show how much of an impact these projects had on their communities, and also show how these projects supported The Rotary Foundation’s mission statement, “The Rotary Foundation helps Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty.”

Waterloo’s project was entitled Education for Hope, and improved conditions and amenities at two Indigenous shelters in the Municipality of Tepic, Nayarit in Mexico.

Streetsville’s project installed lavatories and a drinking fountain in a Zabaleen school in Cairo, Egypt, providing the students access to clean, sanitary water.

Oakville Trafalgar’s project installed solar panels at a CEPIA facility to reduce their electricity costs.  CEPIA provides programs and services for the poor in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.

You can view all three videos on the District Grants page on the District website at https://rotary7080.org/sitepage/foundation-home/district-grants.  Watching these videos stirred something deep in me—that profound sense of why Rotarians do what we do.  Service above self.  It’s not just a motto, it’s who we are.  I hope you will agree.  Happy viewing!
