Highlights from RI Convention 2024 in Singapore

We had an incredible time at the 115th Rotary International Convention in Singapore. Led by Uche Okugo, District Convention Promotions Chair, 29 Rotarians registered from our District, and 25 were in Singapore, including our surprise attendee, Mosun Afolabi of Brampton South, who only joined Rotary just a few days before the Convention. Our target was 17, so we surpassed it by 71%!

With about 14,000 Rotarians in attendance, the convention had an amazing array of events from the Preconvention events, General Sessions and Breakout Sessions to the House of Friendship, TRF and Host Hospitality events. It was inspiring to hear from speakers and Rotarians who have made a significant impact through their organizations and service projects and to learn about the different ways Rotary is making a difference globally along our Areas of Focus and Avenues of Service.

The convention also provided a chance to explore the vibrant city of Singapore - its places (Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, Sentosa Island, Singapore Botanic Gardens), its food (Chinatown and Little India) and its culture.

Our District attendees had a hangout at CÉ LA VI and a first-of-its-kind special meeting organized by District 7080 Vocational Chair, Sunil Sharma, with the Rotary International President Nominee, Mário César Martins de Camargo, to present a gift for his Special Guest Speaker participation during D7080 Vocational Service Month activities.

We are already looking forward to the next Rotary International Convention in Calgary, and Rob Galloway will lead us there as Convention Promotions Chair.

Now, let’s go spread The Magic of Rotary!!!
